Connecting an AWS S3 Data Source to Cloud Protector

In order to connect Cloud Protector to your AWS S3 file system, your administrator will need to log into AWS S3 and collect a few values:

1. Access Key Id and Secret Access Key: This pair of values is generated on the bucket itself in AWS, and you will have to create them if you haven't already. Refer to this guide to create them.

2. Bucket: This is the name of the resource. Click "Services", then "Config", then click the name of the Config. The S3 bucket name will be displayed in the "S3 bucket" field.

3. Region: This is the AWS region that the bucket is in, e.g. "us-west-2". Click "Services," then "S3." The region of the bucket is in the "AWS Region" column in the Buckets list.

When you have these in hand, log into Cloud Protector and go to Settings > “Add Source.” Fill out the form.

1. Give your source a name that will help you recognize it.

2. Input the Path: the actual file path in the cloud storage that you want to analyze, encrypt, or both. Leaving this as “/” will include the whole file system.

3. Input the other values you have gathered.

4. Click “Test Connection & Save”.
